Service & Social Justice

Church members make sandwiches to deliver to people experiencing homelessness in Cleveland.

Church of the Redeemer is committed to service and social justice. We recognize our responsibility to build a better world and to alleviate suffering, affirm dignity, and pursue justice for all both locally, nationally and internationally.

Nehemiah Mission’s Luke 3:11 Outreach

Redeemer participates in Nehemiah Mission’s Luke 3:11 outreach. John the Baptist called those who have to share freely with those in need. On the first Sunday of the month, we deliver, food, clothing, and toiletries to Cleveland’s population of persons experiencing homelessness. Volunteers prepare food and supplies the day before in our fellowship hall. Redeemer members and visiting volunteers share their talents and time to express love and dignity to those Clevelanders, too often unnoticed, experiencing hardship and marginalization.

Greater Cleveland Congregations

Church of the Redeemer is an active member of Greater Cleveland Congregations.  Greater Cleveland Congregations is a coalition working on many social justice issues, including education, jobs, health care, criminal justice, food accessibility, and gun violence.

Food and Hunger

Redeemer members collect groceries and household items every Sunday and deliver them to the Heights Emergency Food Center.

Partnership with Canterbury School

Redeemer supports Canterbury School, our closest neighborhood public school, working with the school administration and social workers to provide support to families and students in need.
