Church of the Redeemer is committed to service and social justice. We recognize our responsibility to build a better world and to alleviate suffering, affirm dignity, and pursue justice for all both locally, nationally and internationally.

Nehemiah Mission’s Luke 3:11 Outreach

Redeemer participates in Nehemiah Mission’s Luke 3:11 outreach. John the Baptist called those who have to share freely with those in need. On the first Sunday of the month, we deliver, food, clothing, and toiletries to Cleveland’s population of persons experiencing homelessness. Volunteers prepare food and supplies the day before. Redeemer members and visiting volunteers share their talents and time to express love and dignity to those Clevelanders, too often unnoticed, experiencing hardship and marginalization.

Greater Cleveland Congregations

Church of the Redeemer is a member of Greater Cleveland Congregations. Greater Cleveland Congregations is a coalition working on many social justice issues, including education, jobs, health care, criminal justice, food accessibility, and gun violence.

Food and Hunger

Redeemer does not have a food pantry. Members of the congregation collect groceries and household and deliver them to the Heights Emergency Food Center. The Heights Emergency Food Center is located at Disciples Christian Church, 3663 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights OH.

UMCOR

The United Methodist Committe on Relief (UMCOR)

UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – be it famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events—to alleviate suffering and to be a source of help and hope for those left most vulnerable. We provide relief, response and long-term recovery grants when these events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development.

Partnership with Canterbury School

Redeemer supports Canterbury School, our closest neighborhood public school, working with the school administration and social workers to provide support to families and students in need.
