Worship

Join us on Sundays at 10:30 am in Redeemer Sanctuary or on Zoom for worship rooted in Scripture and tradition, in conversation with reason and experience, that is relevant to our shifting modern world.

Time

Worship is every Sunday 10:30am at Church of the Redeemer UMC in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The worship is also livestreamed on zoom.us.

Liturgy

We follow a modified United Methodist liturgy and order of worship, including an invitation to worship, call-and-response prayers, and sung responses. We sing or listen to hymns, share our prayer concerns, and hear a sermon, rooted in scripture and tradition and in conversation with our daily experiences.

Gender Inclusive Language

To reflect the diversity of God and creation, we make every effort to use gender inclusive or gender neutral language when referring to God and humanity.

Music

Redeemer is blessed with a rich and talented congregation who share their talents during worship. We incorporate traditional music from the United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing with modern worship music and masterpieces from classical, theatrical, and Gospel traditions as well. Communion: An Open Table

We offer communion on the first Sunday of each month and during special services throughout the year. All are welcome to receive the bread and cup, no matter who you are or where you come from. The table is set for all of God’s children. When children join us for this sacrament; we encourage parents and care givers to explain the importance of Communion to their child as they share the experience.

Sermons

Our worship services are anchored by a Scripturally-based sermon delivered by the pastor, one of our talented lay speakers, or guest speakers invited by the congregation. We are currently following the Revised Common Lectionary, but have at times moved to sermon series, or other more experimental lectionaries.

Special Sundays

Several Sundays throughout the year are occasion for special services celebrating the life of our congregation or events around the globe that speak to our mission as followers of Christ. We also recognise some special Sundays designated by the United Methodist Church.
