Church of the Redeemer UMC, located at 2420 S Taylor Rd, Cleveland Heights, will celebrate 30 years as a reconciling congregation on Sunday, June 2nd at 10:30 am. Reconciling congregations believe in the worth of all human beings and that all of God’s children, including members of the LGBTQIA community, should be able to fully participate in the church. Church of the Redeemer was one of the first congregations to become reconciling in NE Ohio, but on this day, June 2, 2024, we celebrate not only our historic decision, but that the general conference of the United Methodist church voted in April 2024 to welcome and include LGTBQIA people in all the rites/rights of the church, as congregants, celebrants and clergy.

The celebration, falling on the first weekend of Pride Month, will feature guest preacher, Bishop Sally Dyck, who was the pastor at Redeemer at the time the congregation made their decision, and special music provided by Redeemer’s choir members. All are welcome at the service and the reception following the service.
