Somehow it is already Tuesday afternoon and I am just now getting a chance to write to you all. I am amazed at how quickly the days seem to be going. Last I checked it was still March! But it is not, it is August and summer is quickly moving along.
As I sit in my office at the church, I have the windows open and can hear little kids running around the neighborhood. It is a wonderful soundtrack to my day. It reminds me of my little neighbor friend and the screams of joy he produces as he watches the water from the hose hit his deck and make rainbows in the sun.
I have found in these long days of pandemic I have needed to find ways to sit still and simply be. I mentioned it in my sermon this past week, of slowing down and talking to God when everything around us is going every which way. Last Tuesday before I left to head home, I walked the sanctuary. Up and down the aisles, up to the alter, resting in a pew every few moments. I started thinking about all of you. Where might you be sitting on a Sunday? Are you a front row person? Or do you sit towards the middle? The back?
While we cannot all be together yet, being able to walk the sanctuary and imagine where you will sit, I look forward to Sundays when I log onto Zoom and am able to welcome you into our sacred worship space. While you might not be able to see yourself in the sanctuary, I can see all of your smiling faces or picture your smile if you call in to be with us. And I look forward to the day when we are all able to worship together in that space. But until that day I will continue thanking those that created the Zoom technology so we can see each other and worship together each Sunday.
Tomorrow you will receive another email from me. In it will be a link or links to sign up for “Moments with Pastor Meganâ€. This will be a way for us to connect outside of worship and to get to know each other. And in that email, there will be more information on what that will or could look like. I look forward to “seeing†you all in new ways!
And as promised I have included at the bottom of this email links to watch the videos to the songs I mentioned in my sermon on Sunday. And our prayer this week will be some of the lyrics from their song “Counting Every Blessingâ€. Use it this week to remember that in the midst of the pandemic there are blessings in our everyday lives.
May this week land gently on you all.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Megan
Our Prayer:
You were there in the valley of shadows
You were there in the depth of my sorrows
You’re my strength, my hope for tomorrow
I’ve been blessed beyond all measure
I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing
Letting go and trusting when I cannot see
I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing
Surely every season You are good to me
